I miss some of the background music and I wonder if those midi music files were stored on my webtv unit or on the webtv server.

Hi!

The files were stored in the ROM of the WebTv box. A few months ago I had found a site which had all the ROM on the box available for download, there were LOTS of songs. I have some of them that I listen to, believe or not those songs helped through a lot of tough times as I would play them to remind me of the old days when things were much simpler. To this day I

I will search for the site again to see if I can find it. I remember it being very cryptic and hard to find. The entire music folder may be on my computer somewhere, I will to check that as well.

Well, I dunno if you're still looking for them or not, but I have most of them saved from a site called Webbie Zone. Unfortunately it shut down a few months ago.

If you are still looking for them, email me at jc.125@hotmail.com and put the subject: Webtv songs

I'll send you all of the ones I have.

Thanks for the reply!

I found out about webbie zone years ago, back in 2004.  I was stationed on a USN aircraft carrier and believe or not, those midi's got me through a lot of tough workdays.

I am sad to hear they have gone offline.  I found another website deep in the web that had the entire ROM of the webtv for download.  Images, music, everything was there.  I have a set of Webtv midi's on my home computer that has many midi's that the Webbie Zone was missing.  One of them, called chill.mid (I think), sent me right back to 1998-2000, as I had not heard that tune since.

If you want, I could e-mail you a .zip file with all of the midi's I have.

I wish I could give you the link to that site; the first time it took me hours of searching to find it.  If I ever do find the site I'll let you know.

I'm also here looking for the very same thing.  I used to listen to the Midi's a lot, and now I'd be so happy to hear any of them again.  If any of you purporting to have them do have some of them, please email them to me via my profile page.  I'd really appreciate it.

It's funny the things you miss when they're gone.  MIDI's aren't typically missed by anyone, but these were well composed.  I'd surely smile if I heard them on my iPod today.

I wonder if there is a way to get the music and graphics off of the ROM in the Web TV box??

RebTv,

There is a way to do it.  Some guy did it before and but the entire ROM online for download.  I cannot remember the site anymore but it was something along the lines of webtv hacks... webtv rom hack... can't remember exactly.  I have no idea how to do it yourself though.
